Holiday in Canada (stay home)

In both his adult life and as a young man the author has been very blessed to have lived in and
travelled to other countries both as a young army officer and as a teenager with his family and as an
Enbridge employee [1]
During his extensive travel both inside and outside Canada it struck the author how little Canadians
know about their own country and how little they have seen of this marvelous country. For example, it is
perplexing how little of their country most
Canadians have seen yet we will gladly spend our hard-earned dollars on holiday trips to Mexico or other warm climes- we are not a very cosmopolitan people!
Witness the reluctance of many Anglo-Canadians to speak French! If we are to beat the patriotic drum,
we should at least funnel our travel tax dollars into our own country! Why not take in the splendor of
the Canadian Prairies and the magnificent north!? Fancy Mexico City do you?! What about Quebec City?!
There is so much to see in our own country! - try it! You will be amazed!!

[1] In the 1970s and 1980s the author lived in both Germany and England as a teenager. Un the Army while on peacekeeping missions the author was deployed to both Cyprus and Croatia allowing him to visit the Middle East. As an Enbridge employee the author was able to travel extensively in the U.S. While living in both England and Germany the author was able to travel extensively in Germany including climbing “Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the U.K. (it is in Scotland.
